coolairhumidifierIt is a great thing to provide warm air humidifiers if you have any kind of respiratory problems. Doctors usually recommend buying it when you go to their office complaining that you come down with flu, a cold or if you suffer from a sinus infection. This is also highly suggested by the National Institute of Health. Additionally, parents use them in order to keep the appropriate level of moisture in nursery schools or to relieve symptoms of croup.

The way air humidifiers function is that they release warm moisture into the air, so that it is absorbed in your skin, including your nasal passages. Very soon you will be able to breathe easily, as the mucous lining in your sinuses becomes thinner and drains. What’s more, you can add some medications to the water which is previously heated. It will contribute to your lungs and nasal passages become open.

Since warm air humidifiers produce heat, it is necessary you keep them out of the reach of kids. They might burn their skin seriously, if they touch it with any part of their body. Also, make sure that you keep it off the carpeting or any upholstery as the machine itself warms heavily.

Parents are often in doubt whether to buy a warm air humidifier or a cool air humidifier. However, both these types have many advantages and disadvantages.

The main problem with a cool air humidifier is in its maintenance. It should be cleaned often, daily or at least every few days; otherwise, bacteria and mold might appear causing serious infections of the lungs. On the other hand, warm air humidifiers don’t have to be cleaned that often. Removing the lime scale built up from the base is the only necessary cleaning. You just add little lime scale removing powder to water the base, and after being soaked, wash it out and use.

As already being mentioned, the only problem with a warm air humidifier is that you put your children to a risk of  burning themselves. Because of that, The National Institute of Health strongly recommends providing a cool air humidifier in order to avoid that, but warm air humidifiers also have their advatages so it’s up to you which to choose.
