humidifiersAir humidifiers can be very helpful devices in your house provided that you know how to choose the right one. You cannot simply buy a humidifier without thinking first of its quality and versatility. So, think of this in advance before you go to the shop to purchase one. First of all, you should keep in mind is that when you go to a shop to ask the retailer about the area which the humidifiers can cover, they will tell you a bigger number than it actually can. Therefore, make sure that you provide a humidifier with a bigger coverage.

Another thing you should think of is the noise the humidifier makes. It makes a gurgling sound similar to the sound a coffee maker produces. So, if that sound irritates you it is recommended to opt for  a humidifier which makes the least noise. In general, warm air humidifiers make less noise, but they need more eletricity because they must heat the water. On the other hand, cool air humidifiers are more energy-efficient but they make more noise. If you decide to get a cool air humidifier, take this into consideration, and put it in a place where you won’t hear or notice the noise.

Besides, make sure that you use a hygrometer for measuring the level of humidity in your house. By providing a smaller humidifier to cover a large area in your home, you may not attain the ideal humidity level your house needs. For that reason, you should fulfill this requirement before setting your humidifier in a room or any other palce in your house. Put differently, too much or too little humidity can render problems both to your health and to your home. Humidity larger than 50% can increase mold and buildup which breeds all kinds of bacteria. Despite that, too little humidity can cause nose and throat irritation, and also cold and allergy problems. The measuring of the ideal humidity indoors, depends on the outdoor humidity-that’s why it’s essential to use a hygrometer.

As you can see, there is a wide range of humidifiers available on the market. Yet, bear in mind that the best one for you doesn’t depend on the brand or its features, but on the efficiency it displays when you install it in your home.
